United Kingdom issues fresh travel warning on Nigerian over 'increasing insecurity', lists 20 states as unsafe

The United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has advised its citizen to avoid travel to several parts of Nigeria, citing concerns over terrorism, violent crime, kidnappings and intercommunal clashes.   This was contained in a latest Foreign Travel Advice released on GOV.UK on Sunday, November 9, 2025.    In the latest advisory, the FCDO said "insecurity is increasing across Nigeria. Kidnapping, violent crime, and intercommunal violence occur throughout all regions of Nigeria.”   The advisory called on British nationals to exercise extreme caution, review safety procedures, and ensure they have contingency plans in place.   The FCDO advised against all travel to Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Katsina, and Zamfara states, citing a “high and increasing threat from Boko Haram or Islamic State West Africa, particularly around transport hubs, religious areas and large gathe   According to the statement, the UK warned that “hu...

A Nigerian woman, Tracy Mcwary, has advised women married to Delta men to have a contingency plan before leaving their husbands.   Tracy gave the advice in a Facebook post on Monday, November 10, 2025 when she narrated how her ex-husband tried to stop her from leaving.     According to the mother of one, the day she made up her mind to leave him, her ex-husband, who was not home, instructed the security man to lock the gate and then he locked her car using the tracker he had installed.    However, not deterred, she called her brothers, including one who is a military officer, and they arrived with their friends.   She also contacted a Deputy Commissioner of Police, who connected her with an Area Commander and he dispatched police officers to the house.   Her ex-husband took to his heels when he arrived and met her brothers, their friends and the police officers.    “I was married to a Delta man from Delta North Senatorial Dis...
