CAF increases prize money of WAFCON 2024 to $1m - Football


The Confederation of African Football, (CAF), has increased the prize money of the winner of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Africa’s soccer governing body, CAF, also increased the total prize of the WAFCON 2024 finals by 45%.

 

According to the breakdown, the winner of the competition will go home with $1m, while the runners-up will receive $500,000.The third and fourth-place team will get $350,000, and $300,000 respectively.

 

The quarter-finalists will be rewarded with $200,000, while the third and fourth-place teams in each group will go home with $150,000, and $125,000 respectively.

 

Morocco will host the biennial competition from Saturday, 5 July to Saturday, 26 July. The Banyana Banyana of South Africa are the current holders of the competition.

South African authorities have arrested seven Kenyan nationals and are set to deport them after they were accused of working without proper documentation on a United States government programme that offers refugee status to white Afrikaners.   The South African Department of Home Affairs confirmed the arrests on Wednesday, saying the individuals were found working illegally at a centre involved in processing applications for resettlement to the United States.   The development comes amid controversy surrounding a policy announced in May by the administration of US President Donald Trump, which offered refugee status to members of the white Afrikaner minority. Media personality, Toolz responds to age-shamer who claimed she's unmarried at age 40 plus

Media personality, Tolu Oniru-Demuren, better known as Toolz, has responded to an X user who tried to shame her over her views.  Toolz had stated that if people were having better s£x, they would be less angry.    Public speaking course An X user responded to Toolz' statement with a tweet that reads: "Toolz is 40+ and she is not married."    Toolz saw the tweet and gave a sarcastic response.    She wrote: "Can you imagine?? Instead of her to goan marry and born children!"   Toolz is married to a pilot, Tunde Demuren, and they have two sons.

Super Eagles Footballer Victor Osimhen rejects offer from Saudi Arabia to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal

Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has reportedly rejected the chance to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal amid interest from several Premier League clubs.   The 26-year-old is expected to leave Napoli but a potential deal to join Al-Hilal is on the verge of collapse as he couldn’t agree on terms with the Saudi club, according to Fabrizio Romano.   The Saudi club made the official bid of €70 million to Napoli on Thursday to sign Osimhen. The proposal was worth €65m fixed fee plus €5m add-ons and they were ready to offer the Super Eagles striker €30m salary per year.   The Nigerian International, currently on loan from Napoli, lit up the Super Lig at Galatasaray last season, scoring 25 goals and providing five assists in 29 games for the Turkish giants. He is set to return to the Italian club this summer, where his contract expires in 2026.
