AFCON 2025 - Lookman, Ajayi, Osayi-Samuel arrive Super Eagles’ Cairo camp


Atalanta winger, Ademola Lookman, defenders Semi Ajayi and Bright Osayi-Samuel have arrived at the Super Eagles Renaissance Hotels base in Cairo ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

 

Among the new arrivals in camp are goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, Tochukwu Nnadi, and Igoh Ogbu. They joined Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru in camp.

 

More players are expected to join the team later on Monday (today). The Super Eagles opened camp for AFCON 2025 in Cairo on Sunday.

 

The three-time African champions will hold their first training session tonight. Eric Chelle’s side will face the Pharaohs of Egypt in a friendly at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday.

Nigeria Census begins 3 May 2025 - Federal Government of Nigeria

The federal government has announced that the National Population and Housing Census will begin on May 3.   A member of the Publicity and Advocacy Committee on 2023 National Population and Housing Census, Dr. Garba Abari, said the three-day exercise would start on May 3 and end on May 5 across the country.   Abari, who is the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), said the census would capture every person, household and structure for national planning and project execution purposes.   He added that the change in the date was due to the postponement of this year’s governorship and Houses of Assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).   Abari said;   “That change by INEC made it mandatory for us to also adjust the date for the conduct of the exercise. Iraq accuses Israel of using its airspace to attack Iran

Iraq filed a complaint on Friday, June 13, with the United Nations Security Council over Israel’s “violation of Iraqi airspace” in a major attack on Iran, Baghdad’s foreign ministry said.   “These practices constitute a flagrant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty,” the ministry said, calling on “the Security Council to assume its responsibilities” and act to “prevent the recurrence of such violations.”   Early Friday, June 13, three missiles were found in Iraqi desert areas, one of them not yet exploded in the central Diyala province and two others in the southern province of Dhi Qar, according to two security sources.   The sources said the missiles in Dhi Qar gouged a four-metre (13-feet) deep crater in the ground.   The Iraqi government has denounced the “military aggression” launched by Israel against Iran, describing it as “a blatant violation of the fundamental principles of international law.”   Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, the highest religious ...

Germany summons Iranian ambassador over the arrest of alleged spy

Iran’s ambassador to Germany was summoned by the German foreign ministry on Tuesday, July 1, following the arrest in Denmark of a man suspected of spying on Jewish targets in Berlin on behalf of Tehran.   “We will not tolerate any threat to Jewish life in Germany,” the ministry said in a post on X, adding that the allegations require “thorough investigation.”   The suspect, identified only as Ali S., was arrested last Thursday in Aarhus by Danish police, the German federal prosecutor’s office said in a statement. He is “strongly suspected of having worked for an intelligence service,” they added.   According to the prosecutors, Ali S. received instructions from an Iranian intelligence service earlier this year to gather information on Jewish communities and individuals in Berlin.
