Portuguese football federation backs Cristiano Ronaldo to continue with Portugal

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has reaffirmed its support for Cristiano Ronaldo’s continued involvement with the national team, describing the forward as an icon of Portuguese football.   FPF president Pedro Proença, in a post on the federation’s X account on Monday, said Ronaldo remains an important member of the national side whenever he is fit and available for selection.   “Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in history. He has dedicated more than two decades to Portuguese football and is the ultimate symbol of Portuguese identity,” Proença said.   He also defended Ronaldo’s place in the squad, insisting that his selection is justified by his performances.   “His presence with the national team is well-deserved thanks to his exceptional sporting abilities, and this is undeniable. Trump rejects Iranian proposal to reopen Strait of Hormuz

United States President Donald Trump on Saturday, September 26, rejected a truce proposal submitted by Iran aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz to maritime shipping within seven days.       The strategic shipping lane, vital to global energy supplies, remains central to the ongoing conflict between Washington and Tehran, which has reached a stalemate after nearly seven months. “I reject their proposal,” Trump told reporters outside the White House. “They made a proposal, but I’ve rejected it. They want to make a deal where they open the Strait immediately because they’re losing so badly. They want to make a deal, and I think that’s fine.
