Algeria include son of French legend Zinedine Zidane in AFCON squad

Goalkeeper Luca Zidane, son of France football legend Zinedine Zidane, has been included in Algeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to begin on December 21 in Morocco.   The 27-year-old, who plays for Spanish second-division side Granada, previously represented France at youth level before switching his international allegiance to Algeria. Nigeria Football Federation defends choice of hotel for Super Eagles in Morocco after viral

The Nigerian Football Federation has stepped in to calm the noise over the Super Eagles’ accommodation in Morocco, after fans kicked up dust over the state of the team’s hotel.   Football journalist Adepoju Tobi Samuel, quoting the Super Eagles’ media officer, explained what’s actually going on.   “The Super Eagles are camped at Rive Hotel. What trended earlier was the view of an old building that can be seen from a window. Rive was chosen because of its proximity to the team’s training facility and the stadium here in Rabat.”   That clarification came after Alex Iwobi posted clips showing the rough-looking surroundings near the players’ lodging, which immediately sparked reactions about whether the national team was being properly taken care of ahead of Thursday’s playoff showdown with Gabon.   Nigeria made it to the playoff round after finishing second behind South Africa in Group C. Nigeria Census begins 3 May 2025 - Federal Government of Nigeria

The federal government has announced that the National Population and Housing Census will begin on May 3.   A member of the Publicity and Advocacy Committee on 2023 National Population and Housing Census, Dr. Garba Abari, said the three-day exercise would start on May 3 and end on May 5 across the country.   Abari, who is the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), said the census would capture every person, household and structure for national planning and project execution purposes.   He added that the change in the date was due to the postponement of this year’s governorship and Houses of Assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).   Abari said;   “That change by INEC made it mandatory for us to also adjust the date for the conduct of the exercise.
